Our School

The school is in a very classy Office Building that also houses a very nice Acupuncture center.  There is abundant parking, but it is specific as to where you can park.  We will describe the entry to the building and our suite via e-mail to those who have requested to come or return to our school.

Building Rules

At all times:  be fully dressed and dry outside of our suite, including hallways, restrooms, elevator and lobby. Before the Yoga session: change in our Change rooms only.
After the Yoga session: dry off in the Yoga room and our Change rooms and get dressed, before you leave our suite.  We realize some people sweat more than others — so bring (or rent) extra towels if you need to.

Do Not leave anything unattended in the hallways outside the restrooms or our suite, or in our reception area. Take all of your stuff with you into the restroom when you use it.

Restrooms

During business hours M-F (7am - 6pm) you may ONLY utilize the 6th floor restrooms.
After hours and on weekends, you may utilize the 2nd floor restrooms.

-Only for hand washing and using the toilet
-Fully clothed
-Completely dried off before entering
-No leaving bags in the hallway

  • You must have at least 2 towels and an effective Yoga mat to avoid leaving wet spots and/or dripping sweat. (Old yoga mats allow moisture to penetrate beneath).

  • We offer Towel Rentals ($2 per towel) and drinks for purchase. Rental mats only for travelers ($3).

  • Door closes 5 minutes before the scheduled time for each session, and you will not be let in after that.

  • Always take your shoes off on the black welcome mat and place inside shoe cubby, then wait to be checked in.

  • Use the restroom before entering our suite and entering the Yoga room. Our school is small, and this helps to avoid congestion while other students are being checked in. Anyone who comes to our school has to be aware of their hygiene and cleanliness, including their person, Yoga clothing and their mats.  We start all our sessions on time.  Everyone needs to arrive early enough to get checked-in, changed, everything they need and in the Yoga room ready for the session to start on time.  We will not make exceptions.

It’ takes some adjustment for those who’ve been to our old school, or come from Yoga studios or fitness centers,..  We think those of you who appreciate real Bikram Yoga will like it better.

Our school isn’t just a place for people serious about Bikram Yoga, it is a place for people who are serious about improving the quality and longevity of their lives — physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, even spiritually, and are willing to take the self-responsibility for that.  We will continue to offer the safest, most effective and comprehensive system to do that — Bikram Yoga.  We look forward to welcoming you to our school!

 25th Anniversary Message

From Jim Kallett 6/20/23

-The opening of the very first Bikram “Hot” Yoga in San Diego-

June 20th is the day that we opened the very first Bikram Yoga school in San Diego (June 20-21, 1998) at 2188 San Diego Ave., near Old Town San Diego. We moved into a huge 7,000 sq. ft. facility across the freeway at 2110 Hancock St., where we continued to operate one of the largest, busiest Bikram schools in the world from 2003 to 2022. We have now gone full circle and scaled down to our small, private school in Mission Valley.

I continue to thank from my heart, the over 49,000 people who have practiced at our school, with many thousands of you introduced to Bikram Yoga and even Yoga of any kind these 25+ years. It’s been, and continues to be, an incredible journey, with the privilege to participate with so many of you making the effort, with the most scientific, safe, intelligent, and effective system of health maintenance – Bikram Yoga – to make your lives better in every way. What’s happened here at our school and as you can see, all over San Diego, is truly quite remarkable, extraordinary. My greatest thanks will always go to Bikram Choudhury, and the wisdom he relays from his guru Bishnu Charan Ghosh, and who has given almost 60 years of his life (over 50 here in the US) to make Yoga this accessible and simplified, so anyone and everyone can be able to do (try!) it, and for the support, guidance, inspiration, and “mirror” he has provided so many.

Like our consistent, controlled heating, humidification, and ventilation systems, our antimicrobial, ultralok-backing carpet, our air purification and natural and non-chemical carpet cleaning and sterilization systems, we always work to keep it all simple, clean, healthy, and hygienic, to go with the safest, most scientifically/medically based system of health maintenance — Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class, offered here uncompromised, undiluted, original, authentic, and taught by the most experienced and qualified teachers in San Diego….
