I started practicing Bikram Yoga in 2004 while I was working two jobs and commuting to L.A. for an intensive doctoral program on the weekends 😕 Crazy, right?
But the yoga probably kept me from going crazy.
At that time, I could only make it to class 2 or 3 times per week, but I jealously protected my yoga time. It was the best workout I’d ever found.
The ICP training program required that I also participate in a “training analysis”: psychoanalytic sessions four times per week. Emotions were stirred. Transformation was in motion.
But that was nothing compared to my recent experience. My teacher encouraged me to do 100 classes in 100 days.
I’ve long been fascinated by the work of “changing the things that cannot be changed.”
Now I’ve been granted the magic to do it.
The yoga practice leaves me full of joy.
My mind is sharper at work.
Intuition and dreams are amazing.
I have abundant energy.
My aches and pains went away.
An old, chronic knee injury fixed itself.
Blood pressure and blood sugar numbers returned to normal.
Old PTSD symptoms lost their grip.
Worries and negative thought patterns became easy to shut down.
And, best of all, I’ve found a loving, healthy, supportive family of kindhearted yogis.
What a gift.
“My first near perfect, beautiful, deep Triangle. Now I am on a quest to do as Jim says and find my way to repeat this awesome moment, over and over. Thank you for capturing “the moment” Victoria. :)”…. Awesome, awesome, awesome….am still in a Bikram flow. Many, many thanks, Jim.
Hello Jim, ….I was amazed at how I felt the following day of Yoga. It was a very different feeling from when I use to do long distance running in preparation for marathons. I felt truly “WONDERFUL” the following day – no pain but some tightness in specific areas (especially the upper rib cage & abdomen area, thighs, legs, etc. but no back pain at all!!! I even went for a 3 mile hike the following day. I will stop by to purchase a book and to pay for my classes since I want to get enrolled as soon as I possibly can! I am honored to have met you! I especially wish to thank you for your words of wisdom. You are truly a remarkable individual!!!!! Again, thank you so very much.
To Jim Kallett and everyone at Bikram Yoga San Diego, Thanks so much for the posture clinic yesterday. It was an awesome day. I am so glad I was able to come and am overwhelmed by all the wonderfull information I received that intend to practice daily. I could have listened for days, honestly. Thanks so much. Look forward to more.
Hi Jim, I first joined Bikram at Daly City Bikram Yoga a couple days before your presentation there last year (Feb. 2012). I just knew I had to come to your speech – and it was amazing. I really appreciated all the stories, information, references and details that you shared. You went later than the allotted time and I was super grateful for it….I really have had such an amazing experience with Bikram yoga and honestly I COULD NOT even stand properly when I started, let alone do the breathing. I do intuitive counseling and healing work with others (and of course myself) and it has been so interesting to see the energy shifts that occur in class and because of the practice….I am so looking forward to speaking with you, hearing your lecture and doing the posture clinic.
Hi Jim, I hope you had an easy and restful flight back. We have been thinking about so much since you left. What we’ve learned in and out of the yoga room is so valuable and we are working as a team to spread it wide and without distortion! It’s been fun to hear and see the effect on our students, teachers and of course one another 🙂 There’s a buzz in the air!! It feels great to be connected to you and have shared this weekend. I know Henri and I both look forward to more times with you in the future. He sooner than I; as he re-certifies in May. We will be sure to come visit with Baby Leite sometime soon! Thank you and Love form all of us at BYH!
Always loved his talks at training
Wonderful posture clinic and class–thanks so much for making this happen! “Wonderful experience–thank you, Jim Kallett!”

What a great posture clinic with Jim Kallett!! I’m constantly amazed at how much there still is to learn. So much room for growth, always!!”: “It takes both patience and determination!!!! We learned that at Jim Kallett’s lecture :)” “I got so much out of the experience Jim Kallett, and my mom loved the lecture in particular. She says she is feeling inspired and looking forward to coming back to the yoga!!….” “Demonstrating Bow Pose for Jim Kallett’s Posture Clinic. I’m so thankful for this yoga and our wonderful yoga community!!” [follow up 7/28/13]: Hi Jim, I’m a teacher at Bikram Yoga Hampden, the one you took class from on the Friday you arrived….Just so you know, my mother was really inspired by what you said in your lecture and speaking with you afterwards. She has come back to practicing regularly. She pretty much hasn’t missed a week since! She says you just got through to her and she understood that she “had” to do it for her health. I really appreciate how you inspired her and just wanted to let you know! Thank you again and talk to you soon!
“Determination without patience is recklessness, and patience without determination is laziness.” Love it! Thank you for an amazing weekend Jim Kallett
I was one of the people in the seminar you did at las vegas, at the green valley studio the almost 14 hrs spent with you seemed almost like eternity when i heard about them, but went by like a wink the insight you provided will be part of me for the rest of my life wrote this on facebook wanted to share it with you Life is just an installments of moments….. so this Valentines.. I decided to treat myself…I enrolled for the Jim Kallett’s Bikram Yoga retreat… 2 days of Intense yoga…. Last night it was a 2 hour seminar that became 4 and we were still glued to our seats in awe of Jim because the way he amalgamated Bikram yoga, with philosophy and theology… it simply took things to a new level, the insight was absolutely out of this world. Then today 10 hrs of seminar, posture clinic and a class…simply mindblowing….yes it was a really long day but the hyperoxygenation provided by bikram yoga postures…I guess made us sustain. Jim seemed like a goldsmith twisting our bodies into beautiful shapes..like a baker who rolls the dough into lovely pretzels…I was able to do postures I could never dream of…the way he makes you believe U can do it… is very convincing..The mind body connection he talks of…works… The best part of the entire 14 hours was the way he blended anatomy with physiology on one side then took us into the nitty gritty of the yoga behind it. The Bhagwata Gita and Mahabharata were talked of and the entire experience was very holistic. I love when every aspect of the subject is encompassed in one talk…. I feel enriched, enlightened and more!!!” “
Dear Jim, Thank you so much for your time and energy. It has created a wonderful Buzz in the studio, and everybody learned so much.”
To think I almost didn’t go because my ego was focused on my knee and I didn’t want you to see my practice. How crazy is that. Yes, we have been at this a very long time now and it means more and more all the time. I remember the last TT class you taught vividly!! I would love to have you in mine some day for sure. I taught the early class this morning with a new sense of joy thanks to you. Jim you so won my heart over! Much respect!….Very best to you. P.S. You’re a wealth of information and your lecture was amazing! Thank you Jim, I’m a huge fan! ….xoxo
Thank you for such a great seminar today Jim and for giving us such genuine undivided attention. Your passion for the yoga is so infectious and I loved you at TT and I loved you again today! Thank You!
Thank You BY Agoura Hills for hosting Jim Kallett’s Seminar yesterday! And Thank You Jim for an amazing day of learning more and more…Whether we are on the podium or on the mat, our goal is to keep moving from self-consciousness to self-awareness towards self-realization–and these seminars are such amazing opportunities to keep growing and expanding. And all we have to do is show up! 🙂
Jim I wanted to say thank you for the gifts you gave us this weekend. I hope it is obvious that I am serious about my practice. You really helped me focus in even more….I really hope to have the opportunity to practice with you again.
Thank you Michele Vennard for hosting a fabulous inspiring weekend at Bikram Yoga San Jose with Jim Kallett. I did my first double ever…. 😀
Such a honor to have Jim Kallet at BYMV today! Thank you so much Jim to share your knowledge and make us better Teachers 😀
I just wanted to express my very deep respect, gratitude and thanks for your presentation and the posture clinic. So many things you said where powerful, poignant and meaningful as well as so educational and intelligent….It had a major impact for me and you showing me what I/my body is actually capable of doing in the postures….Thank you. I sent you gratitude energetically…you immediately directed me to Bikram and then he immediately directed me to [Bishnu] Ghosh and then…up the line. So it was beautiful to see that great humility. And so I offer my gratitude in the material. Again I thank you from my heart. Very sincerely, cordially and respectfully yours.
Friday evening I was quite surprised when I saw what time the lecture ended and amazed that I sat for almost 5 hours. I enjoyed the stories about Bikram and the history of yoga. Saturday I learned from each person who demonstrated their challenging poses. I can feel the difference of having my chest more open in the poses as well as a stronger connection to the meaning of “lock the knee”. Before I started Bikram Yoga, I had been taught the knee is a shock absorber and must be kept bent for this to occur. To lock the knee would result in injury. I have a very different concept of the knee now.
I really enjoyed Jim’s seminar. He gave so much information and explanation about yoga benefits. His passion inspired me to practice yoga even more. I already started applying some tips about how to do yoga postures Jim introduced on seminar, and see difference. Thank you very much!!!
Have been thinking really hard about what I learned, did he say anything new that I had not heard from Bikram, or had not read in Bikram’s book… what was it that I feel uplifted, so motivated and ready to take the next step to be a better teacher and a student…..
I came to realize that at each moment we are ready to observe only so much, take in only what our mind allows us. Just like reading Bikram’s books cover to cover more that once, and each time I understand a bit more, is not that the material is new is that I have changed, mind body and soul.
I think I have to say that what I learned over the weekend, is that the learning never stops with this yoga, and this is more than just yoga. I’m stepping forward on my path of self realization with each class that I take and teach. This weekend I took a baby step forward, thanks to you and Jim.
It was dynamite, enlightening…and passionate! It was so much to digest from 2 days speech and class. I always love and enjoy the spiritual side of Bikram yoga, now I practice more physical side, lock the knees (tighten the thighs), suck the belly, I constantly remind to do so if possible, these two are my best friends now!
There is always something new to learn from my daily practice, and I enjoy every moment of it, I totally appreciate and believe what Jim has taught and demonstrated the benefit of the Bikram yoga, and I am getting those benefits little by little and get to enjoy more “live” life, a much better quality life than before (my back pain has gone, long gone!)
Thank you Michele, to make all this happen, I see it as my spiritual temple, that I come to worship every morning!
I love Jim’s direct approach and teaching style. He’s very knowledgeable and has great Bikram comments, which make his lectures educational and entertaining. I appreciate that Jim gave everyone an opportunity to ask questions and demonstrate the postures in question. He thoughtfully gave specific corrections according to each student’s personal, physical abilities. Jim enthusiastically helped students understand the how and the why of Bikram’s 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, answering every single question that came up with patience, respect and compassion. Another fabulous day at BYSJ!
